SUDEP is an acronym standing for Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy.
This is determined when a someone with epilepsy dies suddenly and no other cause of death is found. The cause of death will be ruled as SUDEP or a massive and deadly seizure.
It currently affects 1 in 1000 people living with epilepsy each year.
Doctors and researchers are constantly conducting studies to find the root cause of SUDEP so it can be prevented. Thus far they have been unsuccessful.
