Whitley County, KY– Tessa Behnen was diagnosed with epilepsy shortly after her daughter Kimberly was born. She trained her to call 911 in case something happened.
In September Kimberly found her mother lying on their bathroom floor unconscious. She immediately called 911. She told the 911 operators, “My mom is sick please take her to the doctor. She’s sick.”
This is the first time Tessa has been home alone with her daughter and had a seizure. She says, “I’m thankful that she did, I am proud of her and hopefully she won’t have to do it again.”
EMS workers said Kimberly acted heroically and was a lifeline for her mom. She was honored on Tuesday by the Whitley County Judge/Executive Pat White Jr. and Whitley County EMS. She was presented with an Outstanding Hero award, gifts and a birthday card. She turned 5 years old the same day.
